SOFTIMAGE XSI is a comprehensive 3D animation software that allows you to create wonderful productions for television, games and movies with powerful animation and rendering tools. This version includes new features in Essentials such as Hair & Fur and the Syflex Cloth module, which are two incredible tools that allow you to add constraining points on the cloth, apply forces like turbulence and drag, and introduce collisions. It also presents improvements in modeling, audio and vertex color. Among the modeling improvements, the new Tight packing method for building polygons is emphasized. The software now supports hardware renderers, enabling you to have pictorial previews of all the elements in a scene. Moreover, the property editor that controls vertex colors, now has the ability to handle HDR values, which is highly beneficial for game developers. Although expensive, it is not as expensive as its major competitor, so many users might resort to it.
